Other Health Programmes

HERA has also analysed other health problems and developed strategies and programmes for these problems.

Examples include: 

• Blindness: HERA provided support to the institutional change process of IOTA in Mali, during its transition phase; and developed a support programme against blindness in the Sahel countries, on behalf of the EC (2000-2001);
• Cancer: HERA supported the Belgian Association against Cancer in developing a medium-term strategic plan, based on public health and cost-effectiveness criteria (1994); and developed a blueprint for a Flemish cost-effective cancer registry network (2001-2002);
• Diabetes: HERA assisted the MOH of the French Community in reaching an expert consensus on diabetes screening strategies.
