SARPAM

HERA has been partnering with ReAction South Africa Ltd in the Southern African Regional Programme on Access to Medicines and Diagnostics (SARPAM; www.sarpam.net) funded by DFID (http://www.dfid.gov.uk/). The SARPAM project is supporting the implementation of the SADC Pharmaceutical Business Plan (http://www.medicinesinfohub.net/about/sadc-pharmaceutical-business-plan/) which aims to improve access to medicines through better regional collaboration in Southern and Eastern Africa.

HERA is leading on regional pooled procurement, support to SADC Secretariat and member states, and on Trade, TRIPS and Access to Medicines. One of HERA's staff, Aarti Patel, is based in SADC Secretariat, Gaborone (aarti@hera.eu). Pooled procurement is coordinated by Rob verhage (rob@hera.eu). More information on TRIPS and general SARPAM project is available from Wilbert Bannenberg (wilbert@hera.eu).
