Training and Human Resource Development

As a principle, HERA staff and consultants see capacity building as a core function in almost all their assignments. This is done through coaching, on-the-job training, or formal training sessions.
HERA partners regularly give lectures about pharmaceutical topics in Masters and other Training courses in European Universities and NGOs. HERA also has a wide network which can mobilize specific training experts on nearly all pharmaceutical topics.

HERA has organized special courses on medicines procurement in Lesotho (2006) and Suriname (2008; see http://volksgezondheid.gov.sr/PSM/). Also in Lesotho, HERA supported curriculum development and implementation of formal training courses in medicines supply management of all district pharmaceutical personnel.

HERA partners contributed to curriculum development and implementation of Pharmaceutical Policy Reform training courses using the Harvard/World Bank Flagship framework. The training was implemented in Washington (Global course), Jordan (for MeTA countries) and in Cape Town (for SADC member states).
