The objective of the mission was to review the progress towards safe blood transfusion in Zambia.
The specific objectives were to:
- To review project implementation, in relation with previous EDF support;
- To assess the performance and future of the ZNBTS in meeting national needs for safe blood
- In particular: the relationship of ZNBTS to the health reform process and its contribution to the National Health Strategy, MoH/ZNBTS' plans for sustainability of the safe blood programme
- To make recommendations as appropriate in all areas studied
