Narrative description of project:
The project involved participating in the Mid Term Review of the Denmark – Tanzania Country Programme as part of a larger team, but with specific responsibility for health. The fifth phase of the Danida Health Sector Programme Support (HSPS V) runs from 2015 to 2020, and comprises a number of Development Engagements:
• Support to the Health Basket Fund
• Support to Public-Private Partnerships – including engagements with the Christian Social Services Commission, the Association of Private Health Facilities in Tanzania, Marie Stopes Tanzania, Comprehensive Community-Based Rehabilitation in Tanzania, and SIKIKA
• Support to Zanzibar
The purpose of the review was to conduct an assessment of the implementation of the Country Programme. The findings and recommendations of the review informed decisions regarding adaptations and changes for the further implementation of the programme. The review will feed into a new Country Policy Paper for engagement in Tanzania, which will provide the basis for the elaboration of a new Country Programme.
Description of services provided:
• Desk review of relevant country documents
• Participation in meetings with the Danish Embassy and relevant stakeholders in country during a two week field visit, both in Dar es Salaam and Dodoma
• Assessment of implementation progress and identification and exploration of any challenges
• Proposal of recommendations for the remainder of the health sector programme
• Presentation of key findings to the Danish Embassy
