Narrative description of project:
The mission was part of a global framework for evaluating different health financing mechanisms in Burundi and the proposed solutions to achieve universal coverage. This global framework led by the health department was supported by the European Union, GIZ and BTC.
The objective of this mission was to assess the health financing mechanisms in Burundi (situational analysis), as a first step that will eventually lead to the development of a national health financing strategy for universal health coverage; taking into account the 3 aspects of raising funds, basket funds and purchases of services; as well as 3 dimensions : extension of the coverage, increase of quality of supply, and reduction of direct household spending.
