APW to support the Sector Wide Approach (SWAp) in Kyrgyzstan

Financer:
WHO
Country:
Kyrgyzstan
Field of Expertise:
Health Policy and Governance; Policy, Governance, System; Health Sector Reform
Narrative description of project:
During two short missions to Kyrgyzstan in 2017 (6-11 November; 4-9 December), the consultant made an overview of existing sector-coordination mechanisms, and came up with recommendations (for WHO, DPs and government) to strengthen it. It was concluded that Kyrgyzstan already has a strong track record on ‘SWAP’. Most of the time available was spent contacting key DPs in the health sector, including the ‘non-traditional’ ones (who play an important role, but do not ‘sit around the SWAP table’, such as; India, Aga Khan, Turkey, Russia, Japan, …). Among these DPs, there was interest to become more involved in sector wide (policy) dialogues. During the second mission, the consultant also attended the closing sessions of the ‘thematic week’, where government and DPs discussed progress and challenges regarding service delivery in the country.
Description of services provided:
The consultant made an overview of existing sector-coordination mechanisms and recommendations. A final report was submitted to the WHO.
