Narrative description of project:
The UK DFID, the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) and Irish Aid have supported implementation of the ‘First 1,000 Most Critical Days Programme’ through a Scaling Up for Nutrition (SUN) Fund. This programme covers 14 districts selected by the National Food and Nutrition Commission (NFNC), key line ministries and cooperating partners (CPs) on the basis of a high burden of undernutrition and potential for synergies across existing programmes. It is intended to ramp up coverage of high-impact direct nutrition interventions, build long-term institutional capacity through technical assistance (TA) to key line ministries, and support research. The management agent for the SUN Fund since August 2013 has been CARE International.
