Narrative description of project:
Since 2011, Cameroon has been implementing a Performance-Based Financing (PBF) pilot project in 4 regions with support from the World Bank. Other technical and financial partners of the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), such as UNICEF, UNFPA and GAVI are increasingly interested in using PBF for their activities in Cameroon. The MoPH has expressed the wish to use PBF in particular to improve indicators of the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI), supported by GAVI.
As such, GAVI and the World Bank were seeking to support the MoPH through the provision of Technical Assistance (TA) to strengthen the health system in general, and particularly the EPI program, through PBF.
