Evaluation of the free maternal health care initiative in Ghana

Narrative description of project:
The Free Maternal Health Care Initiative in Ghana was launched in July 2008 as part of the Ministry of Health (MoH) Programme of Work and was implemented through a health insurance premium waiver programme for pregnant women.
The evaluation of this initiative follows almost 5 years after being launched, as part of the 2012 MoH Programme of Work. Its principal objectives are:
- To evaluate the impact of the MoH free maternal health care policy on utilisation of skilled delivery services in Ghana; and
- To evaluate the impact of the MoH free maternal health care policy on quality of maternal health services
