Narrative description of project:
The maternal and newborn health (MNH) programme began in November 2013 and is due to finish in March 2020. It is a complex programme covering a range of partners and components, including: scale-up of training for health workers in emergency obstetric and neonatal care (EmONC) in 32 counties; health systems strengthening (HSS), demand-side financing (DSF) and implementation of the County Innovation Challenge Fund (CICF) to support testing and scale-up of innovative MNH approaches in six counties; an evaluation component to assess the impact of the programme; and a component focused on improving health infrastructure through green energy solutions. The implementing partners are the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF), Marie Stopes International (MSI)/ Options Consultancy Services and the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM).
