Independent Evaluation for Reducing Maternal and Neonatal Deaths in Kenya

Narrative description of project:
DFID supports the Government of Kenya’s efforts to attain the country’s development goals. DFID’s investment in health is primarily targeted towards strengthening health systems, improving maternal and reproductive health, and preventing malaria and HIV.
DFID developed a new Maternal Health programme for aggressively reducing maternal and newborn mortality in the most vulnerable counties in Kenya (£75.3 million, 2013-2018). This DFID funded programme is managed by UNICEF Kenya. Many other partners are involved in delivering specific components of the programme.
hera has been contracted to undertake evaluation work for this maternal and new-born health programme including the impact evaluation (3 years contract).
