Narrative description of project:
The objective of the mission was to evaluate a project implemented by Médecins du Monde (MdM), partially funded by the Swiss Cooperation and aimed at reducing morbidity and maternal and neonatal mortality in the Kanem region in Chad and in particular the prevalence of obstetrical fistula. Some of the aspects which were assessed included the relevance, alignment with national policies, the effectiveness, efficiency and level of implementation, management methods, sustainability, gender issues, the perception by the partners, and the use of lessons learned. The evaluation was intended to guide the Swiss cooperation in their decision on additional funding of MdM in Chad after the end of the first project phase of three years in June 2012. During this evaluation, it was necessary to assess the results achieved and provide input to the decision-making process for future collaboration with the NGO MdM.
