Narrative description of project:
The aim of this consultancy was to support the finalisation of appraisal options, and draft the economic appraisal and value for money elements of DFID Nigeria’s business case for a new integrated Nutrition and WASH programme. hera provided independent support to the DFID Nigeria Health adviser and team as they designed the integrated Nutrition and WASH strategic case and theory of change. The deliverables from this contract were used by the DFID health team to feed into the development of a full business case, in line with DFID guidance notes on developing business cases.
Description of services provided:
The work consisted of meetings with relevant partners in Abuja, a state visit to Jigawa including visits to potential programme areas, discussions with all local stakeholders. Meetings were organised with technical experts inside and outside DFID including during a WASH Symposium in March in the Netherlands and a visit to DFID Mozambique. Upon return from Nigeria, the team worked on the business case and the discussion paper.
