Narrative description of project:
SHAWN 2 builds on the most effective components of SHAWN I. The UK has allocated £92.61 million of aid over a 5-year period (1 March 2014 – 30 November 2018), for SHAWN 2 channeled through UNICEF.

SHAWN 2 seeks to increase sustainability, integrate with other DFID health, education and governance programmes; and generate evidence and knowledge on WASH.

SHAWN 2 aims to help 7 million people gain access to improved sanitation, hygiene and water supply by November 2018. In addition, the project will ensure that 3,500 schools and 1,200 health centres have adequate functioning WASH facilities. Improved personal, domestic and environmental hygiene (Total Sanitation) will be promoted as part of the package.
