Alice Behrendt, MSc

  • Alice is a clinical psychologist (MA)

  • She has worked for the last 13 years in 15 different countries in Sub-Saharan Africa and build up extensive experience in:

  1. Monitoring, evaluation and research of human rights-based programs including post-conflict and humanitarian work – she is highly skilled in results-based management and counterfactual and non-counterfactual evaluation and research designs. Alice is currently participating as a team member in the evaluation of the Rapid Access Expansion Programme to iCCM for the WHO and led the country case study in Niger (2017/2018). The methodological approach is a combination of contribution analysis and process tracing.

  2. Strategy development and project design using a wide range of participatory tools. From 2016 – 2017, Alice worked as Deputy Regional Director for Programmes for Plan International in West and Central Africa and was responsible for ensuring the development of quality strategies in 14 program countries (regional budget of 180 m Euros).

  3. Psychosocial support, mental health, counselling, coaching and training. Alice has worked, for example, as a mental health clinician for the Center of Victims of Torture in the DRC (2009/2010) and has designed and managed psychosocial support programmes for vulnerable children in Liberia, Sierra Leone, Togo, Cameroon and Burkina Faso (2007 – 2009).

  • Alice is passionate about promoting gender equality and systematically applies a gender lens to her work.

  • Described as a strategic thinker, engaging facilitator and cross-cultural fit, she is adept at breaking silos and at bringing people together for finding and implementing innovative and participatory solutions.

  • Her strengths lie also in transforming large amounts of data into easily accessible reports, theories of change or convincing concepts.

  • Alice is fluent in French, English and German.
