Anne Buvé, M.D., M.Sc. Ph.D. Epidemiologist

  • Research on the epidemiology of HIV infection and other sexually transmitted infections; prevention research; evaluation of health services and health programmes; operational research. Special interest in ethical aspects of research.

  • 2001: PhD entitled "Factors determining the differential spread of HIV in four African cities". In 2005 Anne Buvé was appointed senior lecturer at the Institute of Tropical Medicine and in 2009 professor.

  • Since 2008 Anne Buvé is chairperson of the institutional review board of the Institute of Tropical Medicine.

  • She has collaborative research projects with several research groups in Europe and Africa.

  • Anne Buvé was one of the founders of hera in 1990.

  • She has worked as DMO in Zambia and Sierra Leone and has acquired research experience in several African countries including Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Kenya, Tanzania and Zambia. She has also acquired some experience in Cambodia.
