Joumana Yeretzian - PhD - Public Health Expert

Joumana Yeretzian is an experienced biostatistician with over 20 years of research experience in the health sector mostly in the fragile and emergency context of Lebanon. She has a strong background in both quantitative and qualitative analysis methods. Her research interests lie in designing and analysing epidemiological studies, exploring and assessing public-private partnerships and strengthening and optimising health information systems. She has experience in analysing and validating health data in the Lebanese context and contributed twice to a book on national health statistics in Lebanon. Joumana also provides expert consultancy services for local and international NGOs including UNHCR and WHO.

Joumana has been teaching biostatistics and research methods at the Higher Institute of Public Health of Saint Joseph University in Beirut since 2016. She has also been teaching these courses at the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Balamand in Beirut since 2005. She has worked on several health-related research projects in both universities and has previously contributed to similar projects at the American University of Beirut and the Lebanese American University in Byblos, Lebanon. Joumana started working with hera as a consultant in 2021 and became a partner in 2022.

Joumana has a master's degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health and a BSc from the American University of Beirut. She is currently a PhD candidate at the Doctoral School of Management and Economics (EDGE) attached to the Laboratory of Economy and Management of Nantes-Atlantic (LEMNA), at the University of Nantes, France. She is fluent in English, French and Arabic.
