The Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) scorecard of the Southern African Development Community (SADC)

The Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) scorecard of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) is a high-level peer review accountability tool to track the progress of the Region in achieving the SADC Regional Strategy for SRHR 2019-2030 and the SRHR targets of the Sustainable Development Goals. It consists of 20 key indicators to track progress in meeting the 10 outcomes of the strategy. Member States report every two years on progress made against the SADC scorecard.

The development of the scorecard was supported by a hera team in 2019. At that time we developed the first card using Microsoft Excel and provided a prototype for publishing the scorecard online using Tableau and Google forms. In September 2021, UNFPA (the funding agency) requested hera to follow up and support the 2021 data collection, and to launch the online publication of the cards for the subsequent milestones leading to the 2030 SDG deadline. The 2021 milestone card is now published on the SADC website under their information resources tab. https://www.sadc.int/pages/sexual-reproductive-health-and-rights-scorecard

The 2021 Milestone card was initially presented at a recent meeting of SADC Ministers of Health and those responsible for HIV and AIDS in Lilongwe, Republic of Malawi, on 10th November 2021.
