hera is now a Certified B Corporation

hera is proud to announce that we are now a Certified B Corporation.

Which sounds impressive (and it is), but what does it actually mean?

At its core, it means we’re part of a global community of businesses that meet high standards of social and environmental impact. It means that as a consultancy working in health and development, we’re counted among organisations pushing for a more inclusive, equitable, and regenerative economy. And it means we’ve opened ourselves up to scrutiny, because impact should be measured, not just claimed.

Why b Corp?

For hera, it’s not about a badge — it’s about accountability and action.

Becoming a B Corp challenged us to look at every part of our work: our governance, our people, our community, and our environmental footprint. It pushed us to measure what matters, celebrate where we’re making an impact, and recognise where we can go further.

And, it was about asking ourselves some uncomfortable questions. Are we living up to the values we talk about? Are our policies as strong as our ambitions? Are we using our influence to create change that lasts?

By answering these questions over the past two years, the B Corp process showed us what we’re doing well, and where we need to do better. This commitment to continuous improvement is what makes hera stand out in the health and development sphere.

Based on the B Impact assessment, hera cv earned an overall score of 97.4. The median score for ordinary businesses who complete the assessment is currently 50.9

Beyond B Corp: our wider commitments

B Corp certification builds on other commitments that shape who we are and how we work:

  • UN Global Compact – upholding human rights, labour standards, environmental protection, and anti-corruption.

  • Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) – advancing gender equality and inclusive leadership.

  • Youth in Evaluation Manifesto – ensuring young voices shape the future of evaluation.

  • International Development Evaluation Association (IDEAS) – promoting excellence and ethical practice in evaluation.

  • Be-Cause Health – collaborating across sectors to improve global health.

Together, these commitments ground our work in integrity, equity, and sustainability. You can read more about each of these commitments here.

Looking ahead

Becoming a B Corp is not the end of the journey. B Corp recertification occurs every three years, meaning hera will continue to:

  • Be transparent about our progress.

  • Measure what matters, from health equity to policy change.

  • Amplify partnerships that drive systemic impact.

  • Embed improvement as an ongoing practice, not a checkbox.

For hera, being a Certified B Corporation means using our international, multidisciplinary expertise not only to consult, but to contribute to real change, advancing health, development, and human rights in ways that are measurable, inclusive, and lasting.
