Ingeborg Jille Traas, Public Health expert / Pharmaceutical procurement and supply chain management expert

  • Inge holds a Master's in Public Health (orientation Disease Control / Reproductive Health) from the Institute of Tropical Medicine in Antwerp, and a postgraduate Master’s in Medical Anthropology in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.

  • Inge joined hera as a partner in 2014. In 2021, Inge was appointed hera’s Quality Manager. In that role, she is in charge of hera’s quality management system, conducts and follows up on internal audits, and monitors hera’s quality objectives.

  • Inge has more than 20 years of relevant working experience in sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), pharmaceutical supply chain management (PSM), and nutrition. She has extensive experience in evaluation and research design, data collection methods for qualitative and quantitative data, data analysis and reporting.

  • Among Inge’s most recent public health-related assignments is the Third-Party Monitoring of the Support for health systems in the DRC project supported by FCDO, which involves regular monitoring of the project’s progress through the logical framework indicators and implementation of several operational research projects. She furthermore participated in many evaluations and research projects on SRHR involving gender components and harmful practices (e.g., evaluation of the Safe Abortion Action Fund). In the field of supply chain management are several studies commissioned by UNICEF country offices to assess the supply chain of supplies required for treatment of acute severe malnutrition (Malawi, Burundi, Mozambique, Uganda) including leakage studies, and the development of the Dutch Directorate of Social Development (DSO) strategy in relation to Reproductive Health Commodities.

  • In all her work, Inge focuses on rights-based approaches. She has strong management skills, a solutions-oriented attitude and has in-depth understanding of the big picture as well as the details that come with complex assignments. Inge is used to working in multi-disciplinary/multi-country teams and complex situations. She has a profound knowledge of the realities of low- and middle-income countries and fragile states. She lived and worked in Nicaragua, Honduras, DRC and Mozambique, and worked on short-term assignments in various countries in Latin America, Central Asia, and Sub-Saharan Africa. She is fluent in Dutch (mother tongue), English, French, Spanish and Portuguese.
