SADC Feasibility Study on Regional Manufacturing of Medicines and Health Commodities

hera conducted a feasibility study on the production of essential medicines and accompanying/related health commodities for the three communicable diseases – HIV and AIDS, TB and Malaria;

  • hera proposed a strategy/modality to operationalize the Regional production of medicines and

  • related/accompanying commodities in the SADC region, including the standards to be adhered to, based on current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP)

  • hera facilitated dissemination workshops to (1) validate the feasibility study and (2) build consensus on the modality (strategy, mechanisms and standards) for operationalizing production.
