  • Pharmaceutical consultant. Expert in Pharmaceutical Supply Management, National & Regional Medicines Policy development and implementation support, access to essential medicines, medicines regulation, financing, budgeting and selection of essential and priority medicines.

  • Marianne has been supporting pharmaceutical systems development for over 15 years. This included short-term assignments such as pharmaceutical sector reviews; evaluation of national pharmaceutical procurement agencies; development of alternative financing mechanisms; design and implementation planning of harmonised supply systems; assessment of medicines regulatory authorities; development of regional regulatory harmonisation options; studies on access to medicines; design and implementation of pharmaceutical market studies; and support to regional networking initiatives and implementation of the Medicines Transparency Alliance (MeTA) pilot project.

  • Previously, Marianne worked as a long-term pharmaceutical consultant for the Ministries of Health in the Gambia and Namibia. Her areas of responsibility included all aspects of medicines supply management in the public sector. During her assignment in Namibia she was Technical Advisor in the Ministry's Pharmacy Division. Her work focussed on the development of the National Medicines Policy and implementation plan, design and implementation of in-service training on the rational use of medicines and supply management, and the establishment of medicines use indicator surveys.

  • Marianne has broad field experience including Botswana, the Caribbean Region, Ethiopia, the Gambia, Kenya, Lesotho, Namibia, Nigeria, Papua New Guinea, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
