Technical support to the 3MDG Fund multi-donor program from 2012 to 2016

From 2012 to 2016, hera provided technical support to the 3MDG Fund multi-donor program in Myanmar, delivering insights through a detailed cost-effectiveness analysis of two key components of the 3MDG program. The first component centered on maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH). The second component targeted three major communicable diseases - malaria, tuberculosis (TB), and HIV/AIDS. The analysis leveraged 2013 Burden of Disease (BoD) data and employed the Incremental Cost-Effectiveness Ratio (ICER) method.

One critical element of the analysis was evaluating the cost-effectiveness of emergency referrals for pregnant women and children under 5 years of age. Three different scenarios were examined to ensure the comprehensive validity of the results. The findings indicated that emergency referrals were highly cost-effective interventions across all studied scenarios.

The overall cost-effectiveness analysis of the 3MDG program presented a deeper understanding of the efficiency of the various interventions. By highlighting the cost-effectiveness of different strategies, the findings play a crucial role in informing future decision-making processes.

Such informed decisions are particularly valuable in terms of resource allocation and program implementation. In this way this the analysis presented is not just an evaluation of past performance but became a blueprint for future strategies, contributing to the ongoing fight against major health challenges in Myanmar.
